New Mexico State Hall Earns LEED Gold

NMSU photogTomGriffithWEBPhoto by Tom Griffith.Las Cruces, N.M. —  Chamisa Village Phase II, a 127,000-square-foot residential complex on the campus of New Mexico State University, has been awarded LEED Gold. Completed in 2011, Chamisa Village Phase II, which was designed by Steinberg Architects, has two- and four- bedroom units for 282 students and faculty. The complex creates a new gateway to campus that supports the university's goal to provide programmed courtyards and exterior social space for students and faculty.

Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson signed an executive order in 2006 requiring all future state-funded building projects exceeding 15,000 square feet to meet LEED Silver standards.

Chamisa Village Phase II features recycled insulation and an advanced water-collection and irrigation system, among several other green features.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
