ACC Begins Construction on Four Student Housing Developments

The four student housing projects have a combined 3,249 beds and construction cost of $156.6 million.

Austin, Texas — Austin-based American Campus Communities Inc. (ACC) has commenced construction on four national student housing projects containing 3,249 beds with a combined construction cost of $156.6 million. All four projects are expected to be completed for occupancy in fall 2012. ACC is building 1,126 beds on the campus of Northern Arizona University. The $60.6 million project will consist of two unique and separate developments: a modern residence hall with 550 beds and a student townhouse community with 576 beds.

 

At the University of New Mexico in Albequerque, N.M., ACC is constructing Phase II of its housing under its American Campus Equity (ACE) program. Phase II consists of a 1,027-bed modern residence hall and features bathrooms within each unit. The $39.4 million project will consist of four separate buildings each containing laundry and kitchen facilities as well as study rooms and social lounges.

 

In Kennesaw, Ga., an off-campus community is being built for Kennesaw State University students. U Club on Frey will contain 456 beds and will consist of flat units as well as townhouse units. A 6,500-square-foot community center including a fitness center, a game lounge, a student lounge, a wireless Internet café, a patio and a resort-style pool is the center of the $22.5 million development.

 

Finally, U Club Townhomes on Marion Pugh is being developed within walking and biking distance of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. The $34.1 million, 640-bed off-campus development will feature four-bedroom/four-bath, two-story townhouse units. The 7,560-square-foot community center will include a fitness center, a game lounge, a student lounge, a wireless Internet café, a patio and a resort-style pool.
