The 332-bed, apartment-style community will be set for occupancy in August 2012.
Laramie, Wyo. — Austin, Texas-based American Campus Communities (ACC), an owner, manager and developer of student housing properties in the United States, has begun construction on a third-party development project at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. The 332-bed, apartment-style community was awarded through a competitive procurement process and is anticipated to open for occupancy in August 2012. The University of Wyoming has been updating and renovating existing student housing in recent years, and this new project is replacement housing for a recently demolished on-campus apartment complex. It features a 4,000-square-foot commons building connected to the community’s main pedestrian pathway, providing access to the University shuttle system stop adjacent to the community. Designed for student recreation and residence life programming, the commons building will also function as a visitor and administrative center for the University. Amenities will include meeting/study rooms, a mail center and a social lounge with a gaming area. The community will contain predominantly four-bedroom units with a mix of private and shared bathrooms. ACC serves as developer and construction manager for the project and successfully coordinated the closing of the $15.3 million finance package. The University will serve as the property manager.
