Columbia, Mo. — $16.1 million project scheduled to be complete in summer 2013.

Columbia, Mo. — Bozoian Group Architects has completed design work for the $16.1 million renovation of the Mark Twain Hall residence and dining facility on the University of Missouri – Columbia campus. Construction will begin in December 2011 and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2013. The planned renovation of the Mark Twain Hall includes the entry and all common areas, improvements to student rooms and suites, an expansion and remodel of the Mark Twain Market dining facility, a reclad of the residential tower façade, replacement windows, and new facility systems.

Built in 1963, the 105,000-square-foot building features a seven-story residential tower and a single-story dining facility that share a common main entry. All of the main spaces are positioned around an exterior courtyard. Student rooms were reconfigured with a ratio of two bedrooms to one bathroom per suite, and new ADA accessible rooms and spaces were added. Private study lounges and student support areas with computer labs, conference rooms, student kitchen, piano practice room, vending and a student laundry were added in the basement.

The design for the dining facility also includes the addition of a new common dining area, the renovation of an existing common dining area and the relocation of the private dining room. The renovation also includes a new reception desk with nearby individual resident mailboxes; a main lounge with smaller, more intimate lounges throughout; a computer area and staff offices.
