LIV near the UW campus was designed by Caron Architecture.Seattle — CA Student Living and joint venture partner Fields Holdings are developing another JV project together near the University of Washington on the site of the former Weaving Works, a yarn and fabric store that is relocating after 40 years in business.

The community, called LIV, will complement CA’s other local holding, called IDENTITY, which opens this September and is a dorm alternative adjacent to UW dormitories.

Caron Architecture designed a compact structure built on about a quarter of an acre. The community will be comprised of a seven-story apartment building with retail space and parking. The center of LIV will contain a landscaped courtyard that leads to a community roof deck with barbecue grill stations, a rose garden and relaxation spaces. The joint venture acquired the property in June, and foundation construction is currently underway with an opening date of September 2015. Compass General Construction is the construction manager.

CA Student Living has eight projects opening in fall 2014 and nine projects under construction for fall 2015, which include Next Level in Gainesville, Fla., also with Fields Holdings.
