Blacksburg, Va. —
Campus Management Group (CMG) has started construction on a redevelopment project adjacent to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) with its joint venture partner CampusWorks Development.

The project designer is Entasis Design. CW Construction, a CampusWorks company, will be the general contractor, and the property will be managed by CMG Leasing.

The Edge, opening for the 2014 school year in phase I and the 2015 school year in phase II, will include 913 beds and 254 units within nine buildings. The resident lounge will be equipped with technology including Skype TV’s for video conferencing. The redevelopment of the 15.28-acre site will include demolition of the Oakbridge Apartments, a community built in the 1950s.

The Edge will be the second project in which CampusWorks has demolished an existing asset pedestrian to campus and repositioned it with an improved community. The first such project was at Georgia Southern.
