Choate to Build Five New Residence Halls at Elon University

Elon, N.C — Updated living-learning communities are the focus of this university-funded redevelopment.

ElonWEBElon, N.C. — Choate Construction Company has been selected to build Elon University's Global Village Project. It will include five new residence halls, which will house 600 students, and a student activities building. The architect is Spillman Farmer. The university is financing the project with bonds.

Elon University is working toward a goal of 75 percent of the student body living on campus. Living and learning facilities are part of the new housing initiative, and the completed buildings most likely will be dedicated to Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian and German language communities.

"The goals are to increase and enhance our residence life offerings," says Brad Moore, director of planning, design and construction management with the university.

Choate is also currently working on the Numen Lumen Center, a multi-faith facility on the Elon campus.
