CO-ED ON CAMPUS HOUSING LINKED TO MORE FREQUENT BINGE DRINKING

PHILADELPHIA — A study released Nov. 18 in the Journal of American College Health reports that students placed in university co-ed housing are 2.5 times more likely to binge drink than students placed single sex facilities.

PHILADELPHIA — A study released Nov. 18 in the Journal of American College Health reports that students placed in university co-ed housing are 2.5 times more likely to binge drink than students placed single sex facilities. The study of 500 students from five college campuses around the country also reported that 42 percent of students in co-ed student housing reported binge drinking on a weekly basis, while only 8 percent in gender specific facilities reported weekly binge drinking.
