Clearwater, Fla. — Seasoned brokers to lead global company into market.

Clearwater, Fla.  — The third largest commercial real estate services company in the world has launched a national student housing group.

Colliers International has hired Dorothy Joffe Jackman and Travis Prince to lead the group. Colliers is headquartered in Seattle, and the student housing group will be based in Clearwater, Fla. The brokers were formerly with Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services.

“Colliers’ wide range of services and capabilities will be a great fit for our work,” Prince said. “We look forward to finding high-quality opportunities for buyers, while helping sellers by leveraging our deep database of knowledge and contacts with Colliers’ global access to investment capital.”

Jackman transitioned to brokerage nine years ago after a six-year career in student housing management and has closed more than $540 million of sales and won a number of industry awards. Prince has handled more than $500 million worth of student housing and multifamily assignments. The brokers’ team of four, which may expand in the future, includes marketing coordinator Hannelore Entzion and analyst Sean Baird.

Jackman and Prince said they will lead Colliers’ dedicated student housing group as a national campaign.

“We’ve done business from coast to coast, north and south. We plan to expand that effort to the platform of Colliers. It will include and embrace the private sector client and the institutional client,” Jackman said.

The estimated $2.5 billion total annual sales in the market are spotlighting student housing as more than a small commercial niche.

“It’s an asset class all unto its own,” Jackman said. “Two of the largest REITS in the country now are two student housing REITS. The business and the industry have become more institutionalized as well. It is a very exciting, explosive asset class.”

“The sector’s gaining a lot of national and international attention,” Prince added. “So we thought it wise to look forward with a global platform as the industry continues to gain prominence.”
