Together with Cannon Design, Gilbane has been selected to design, build, finance, and lease a new mixed-use graduate student housing project and life sciences laboratory building. The graduate student housing, scheduled to be completed in August 2012, is a five-story, 105,000 square-foot mixed-use project providing 152 beds specifically suited to students enrolled in Mason’s Medical Education program, as well as 15,000 square feet of retail space and 10,000 square feet of program space on the ground floor. The privately-leased retail space will provide a variety of casual dining and convenience retail amenities to serve the campus community and surrounding Innovation @ Prince William business park.

The life sciences lab building, scheduled to be completed in January 2013, is a three-story, 75,000 square-foot facility comprised of 58,000 square feet of Mason laboratory/office space along with 17,000 square feet of privately-leased incubator space. The two projects are being delivered under Virginia’s Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act (PPEA).
