Gilbane to Develop Off-Campus, Historic-Area Housing

Richmond, Va. — Project near VCU will enhance a west side neighborhood.   

The renovated Hajoca building and new wings of housing will revitalize Richmond’s Marshall Street corridor and create a gateway to the Carver community.Richmond, Va.  — Gilbane Development Company, headquartered in Providence, R.I., plans to develop three parcels of a vacant industrial site across the street from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Siegel Center.

The project will include the restoration of the 1920s Hajoca building plus two wings of new construction with 136 fully furnished studio, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, a fitness center, video gaming center, rooftop terrace, and 199 garage parking spaces. Gilbane will break ground in March with completion August 2013.
