Mesa Lane Partners Earns Praise for Green Student Housing

Sacramento, Calif. — Governor’s award highlights low energy and water use.  

Sacramento, Calif.  — Mesa Lane Partners was among 16 companies and organizations honored by California Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. for outstanding environmental stewardship initiatives in business.

The full-service real estate investment and development firm received the 2011 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award (GEELA) on Dec. 13 for the LOOP (pictured at left), a 48-unit, 44,994-square-foot student housing development with 140 beds in downtown Isla Vista, near the University of California at Santa Barbara.

The building, which will open in June 2012, is the first private-sector net zero student housing project in Santa Barbara County. It is being built on a revitalized Brownfield site and is expected to achieve LEED Platinum certification when complete. Santa Barbara, California-based Mesa Lane Partners is the managing member of the developer d3 Partners.
