Newberry, S.C. — Newberry College is advancing construction for the redevelopment of Oakland Mill into student housing. Originally built in 1912 and located on 16 acres in downtown Newberry, the building is located less than a half-mile from campus.

The project will include the construction of 29 two- and four-bedroom units for students as well as meeting rooms, study areas and a game lounge. The building will also include approximately 45 market-rate apartments for non-students. The renovation is being undertaken in accordance with the National Preservations Act.

Completion is expected in 2013.
