Rimrock Devlin Development Breaks Ground on Jacksonville University’s Dolphin Residence Hall

Jacksonville, Fla. — Rimrock Devlin Development has started construction on Jacksonville University’s (JU) new Dolphin Residence Hall, a 277-bed housing development with four stories and 70,000 square feet, with a total development cost of $12 million.

The three-wing building is the first new housing construction development for JU in many years and is part of the school’s redevelopment of the historic Arlington area in conjunction with the city of Jacksonville. 

“This project represents a new era for campus life at Jacksonville University,” said JU President Tim Cost. “Engaging, modern living spaces are an absolute priority for any institution looking to expand and evolve.”

The new development represents the best new practices in student housing including collaborative living space and modern amenities, the first students are expected to move in fall of 2015.

Dolphin Residence Hall will consist of student residences along with space for games and activities, laundry facilities, offices, classrooms, study areas and a multi-purpose room. The upper floors include additional living space and study lounges; two floors have a kitchenette. High-tech amenities include fiber optic communications, CAT-6 wiring and cell phone range extenders.

Summit Contracting Group, Inc. of Jacksonville is the general contractor, PQH Group is the architecture firm, Group 4 Design is in charge of interior design, and Taylor & White, Inc. is the project engineer. Rimrock Devlin Development and Seagate Construction Group are managing construction.
