Orlando, Fla. — A partnership between American Campus Communities (ACC) and Walt Disney World Resort has broken ground on a $630 million residential community for participants of the Disney College Program, now known as Disney Internships & Programs.

ACC will serve as the developer, manager and owner of the new purpose-built housing through a 75-year ground lease. The 10,400-bed development will feature two 25,000-square-foot community centers with resort-style swimming pools, event and recreational lawns, fitness centers and social lounges.

The property will also be home to the Disney Education Center, which offers program participants ‘uniquely Disney’ learning experiences with the ability to earn up to nine credit hours in college coursework. The development will also offer group and private study rooms, and computers with free printing. The community will be delivered in multiple phases, with the first phase scheduled for occupancy in May 2020. The project is expected for completion in full by May 2023.
