Staten Island, N.Y. —Addition of housing will make City University of New York campus a residential school.
Staten Island, N.Y. — American Campus Communities has begun construction on a 133-unit, 454-bed student housing community on the College of Staten Island (CSI) campus in the City University of New York system. The company is serving as a third-party developer and manager.
The residences are being financed with $65.8 million in tax-exempt residential revenue bonds and $2 million in taxable bonds, all issued by the New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC)
“This transformative student housing is the first step in changing the campus experience from commuter to residential,” said Jamie Wilhelm, ACC’s executive vice president of public-private partnerships.
The CSI Residences will be comprised of two L-shaped buildings of four and five stories. The apartments will be furnished, and the community is designed to achieve LEED silver. Occupancy is scheduled for fall 2013.
