Fairview SuitesLock Haven, Pa. — Fairview Suites, a 688-bed freshman and sophomore residence hall on the Lock Haven University campus has been awarded LEED Silver certification by the United States Green Building Council.

Capstone Development Partners was awarded the project through a competitive bid process in November 2010 and delivered the facility in August 2012.

“The staff of LHU and LHUF [Lock Haven University Foundation] as well as the entire development team, including STV architects and Mascaro Construction, are to be applauded for their leadership and commitment to high quality, environmentally responsible development like Fairview Suites,” says Bruce McKee, Capstone Development Partners Principal and Fairview Suites’ project executive.

In addition to Fairview Suites receiving LEED® Silver certification, the project and the Lock Haven University Foundation were awarded a PPL grant. The PPL grant reimburses LHU and Capstone for administrative fees incurred when registering and applying the project for LEED certification.

Environmentally sensitive features include rain gardens, the purchase of building materials from local Pennsylvania suppliers and manufacturers, and equipping every suite with individual temperature control thermostats.

Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).
