Columbia, S.C. — Cushman & Wakefield has arranged the sale of Reign Living at the Stadium, a 504-bed student housing property located adjacent to the University of South Carolina’s Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. Travis Prince, Shawn Lubic and Victoria Marks of Cushman & Wakefield represented the seller, Reign Living, in the transaction. The Preiss Co. acquired the property for an undisclosed price. The community — which has been rebranded The Row at the Stadium — offers a mix of three-, four- and six-bedroom fully furnished units with bed-to-bath parity. Shared …

The property is being developed by Gilbane Development Co. and is scheduled for completion in August 2022. Joint Venture Breaks Ground on 428-Bed Community Near Virginia Commonwealth University

Richmond, Va. — A joint venture between Balboa Real Estate Partners and The Opus Group has broken ground on Ascend Richmond, a 428-bed student housing community located near Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. The project will offer a mix of studio, one-, two- three- and four-bedroom units. Shared amenities will include an outdoor terrace with a swimming pool, an indoor fitness room and lounge areas. Rabren General Contractors is the general contractor for the project, a timeline for which was not announced.

East Lansing, Mich. — Pierce Education Properties (PEP) has acquired Chandler Crossings, a three-property, 2,772-bed student housing portfolio near Michigan State University in East Lansing. The acquisition includes The Club (768 beds), The Village (1,068 beds) and The Landings (936 beds). A sales price was not disclosed but the buyer says the portfolio is worth more than $100 million. The portfolio includes 800 South, Deep Elm, The Jefferson and The Q’ube, all of which offer one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units alongside shared amenities including a fitness studio, pet park and study lounge. The properties are owned by ARTISAN Capital Group, a Chicago-based multifamily and student housing investment manager.
