Conway, S.C. — Coastal Carolina University has acquired CampusEdge, a 1,092-bed apartment community located on U.S. Highway 544 near the school’s Conway campus. The schools plans to combine the property with the adjacent University Place community, which is already owned, to create a 46-building student housing complex for underclassmen known as University Place Apartments. The university will implement a sophomore housing requirement beginning in the fall 2010 semester and those students will be housed at University Place. Freshmen will continue to live in the on-campus residence halls. The seller and the acquisition price were not disclosed. Current tenants at the former CampusEdge will remain until the end of their current leases.
