Emporia, Kan. — Emporia State University is set to break ground on a $22 million, 324-bed living/learning community to replace two outdated residence halls on campus.
The 91,000-square-foot building — named Schallenkamp Hall — will replace Central and Northeast Morse Halls. The community will offer single- and double-units in residential wings featuring lounge areas and community bathrooms. The property will also be home to two music practice rooms, an art studio, a team study room, mid-sized classroom, flexible collaboration space and two-story lounges with community kitchens. KWK Architects is the design architect for the project, and HTK Architects is serving as the architect-of-record. The hall is scheduled to open August 2019.
