Young Harris, Ga. — Hardin has completed two other LEED projects on campus.
Young Harris, Ga. — Hardin Construction Company has completed phase two of The Village, an apartment style community for upperclassmen at Young Harris College.
Hardin Construction was the design-build contractor for The Village, which now provides a total of 248 beds. Phase 1 of the project, completed in 2011, included eight 6,000- to 7,000-square-foot cottages and 148 beds.
The Village architect of record is Lord, Aeck & Sargent, Inc. The complex is designed and built to meet the standards required of LEED certification, which is being pursued.
Hardin Construction Company’s other recent LEED-certified projects at Young Harris College include the 200-bed, LEED Silver Enotah Hall residence and the 57,000-square-foot Recreation and Fitness Center, which earned LEED Certified status. Young Harris is undergoing ambitious facilities expansion in support of the college’s recent transition to four-year status.
The Village community features three-story cottages configured in four-bedroom suites, each with a kitchen with full appliances, washer and dryer, cellular enhancement, and wireless Internet access. The complex includes common green spaces, recreational courts and outdoor grilling areas, as well as expansive porches.
