The off-campus project will add 300 beds of student housing to the area near Johnson C. Smith University.

Charlotte, N.C. — The groundbreaking has been held for a new student housing community in Charlotte. Known as Mosaic Village, the project will consist of a four-story, 300-bed community that will be located at the intersection of West Trade Street and Bruns Avenue. The building will also contain 7,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space and an adjacent four-story parking deck. It will serve students of the adjacent Johnson C. Smith University.

Construction will commence this summer and be complete by July 2012. The project is being developed by a partnership between Griffin Brothers and the University. A joint venture between Balfour Beatty Construction and Shelco Inc. is providing general contracting services.
