Eugene, Ore.
— The $12 million Courtside Apartments, located just east of the University of Oregon’s (UO) Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene’s newly assigned Arena District, has become the first mixed-use housing project in Eugene to earn LEED Gold certification. Developed by Portland, Ore.-based project^, which specializes in mixed-use and university-related projects, Courtside Apartments complements UO’s new basketball arena. The apartments opened this past September and were close to full occupancy within the first year. Portland-based Little Big Burger, a local fast food restaurant, will open a location within Courtside Apartments, marking Little Big Burger’s third overall location.

“The building stands as a model for a mixed-use project that serves its residents, adds to the fabric of the campus, and uses ingenuity and natural materials to achieve LEED Gold in a very economical manner,” says Gene Sandoval, lead design partner with Portland-based ZGF Architects LLP, designer of Courtside Apartments.
