SIGNET Development to Construct First On-Campus Housing at Ohio Med School

Rootstown, Ohio  Three-phase project will double campus size.

Rootstown, Ohio — SIGNET Development is building the first on-campus housing at Northeast Ohio Medical University. The residential village is the first part of a three-phase expansion outlined in the university’s master plan, which includes $130 million in construction on the Rootstown campus.

Northeast Ohio Medical University, also called NEOMED, is approximately 15 miles from Akron, Ohio, and supports a community-based program to graduate physicians, pharmacists, researchers and other health professionals. The university was founded in 1973 with the mission of increasing the numbers of primary-care physicians in the region. The institution utilizes resources from three state-supported universities in Northeast Ohio.

When the construction projects are completed, the university’s campus will double in size. The first phase will be complete in fall 2013. As part of a long-term partnership, SIGNET will provide NEOMED with turnkey development and finance services for the project, which includes the oversight of design, construction, finance and management activities.

The new housing of phase one will consist of three four-story buildings with private parking. There will be 185 units that will house approximately 340 residents.
