Chicago — The Scion Group has hired Monte Huber as the company’s first-ever chief financial officer. Huber will be responsible for financial reporting, accounting and asset management activities on behalf of The Scion Group, Scion Advisory Services and Scion’s national portfolio of student housing communities. Chicago — A joint venture between The Scion Group and Hana Financial Group has acquired a four-property student housing portfolio totaling 3,275 beds. Acquisitions include: Cottages of Fort Collins, serving students at Colorado State University Cottages of Lubbock, located near Texas Tech University The 9 at Gainesville, serving students at the University of Florida Archive Oxford, located near the University of Mississippi This transaction marks the first investment completed by the recently formed joint venture. Austin, Texas — Scion Student Communities — a joint venture between the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), GIC and The Scion Group — has acquired MUZE in Austin. The newly developed, 502-bed community was designed by Rhode Partners and serves students attending the University of Texas at Austin. The property offers one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom units with shared amenities including a rooftop pool, sky lounge and study and recreation spaces.
