Charlotte, N.C. — Construction is complete and residents have moved in to the Flats at Mallard Creek, an off-campus student housing community located in Charlotte. The project, which is located near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, contains 386 beds in a mix of 131 two-, three- and four-bedroom units. Residences range in size from 1,037 to 1,504 square feet.  Amenities include a community center that contains a full kitchen and coffee bar as well as a 24-hour Internet café. Other amenities include a recreational area with a 24-hour fitness center, a yoga center, a resort-style pool and an indoor sports court.

The Flats at Mallard Creek is the second purpose-built student housing community developed by Jacksonville, Fla.-based The Vestcor Companies. Its first project was the Flats at Kernan, which serves students of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The developer has plans to break ground on two new Flats communities in the Southeast in the first quarter of next year.
