Lafayette, La.
— UPlace has partnered with LUS Fiber.

Lafayette, La.
— University Place Apartments (UPlace), a student housing community located at 200 Oakcrest Dr. in Lafayette that serves the University of Louisiana Lafayette (UL Lafayette), has announced a partnership with LUS Fiber to bring high-speed fiber connectivity to all UPlace residents. Tenants can access the 100 Mbps peer-to-peer connection established earlier this year between UL Lafayette and LUS Fiber Internet service, which features the fastest Internet speeds in town and extremely low latency rates. In addition, tenants are provided unparalleled speed by a 100 percent fiber optic network for Internet browsing and gaming as well as viewing videos and full-length feature films. UPlace is one of the only student housing apartment communities in the United States with a direct peer-to-peer intranet connection to a major public university.

“The blazing fast Internet speeds that can only be obtained by fiber optics are a real benefit to the students that live with us,” says Robert Tulloch of Realco Capital Partners, the owner of UPlace.

The partnership with UPlace is LUS Fiber’s first residential collaboration with a multiple-dwelling unit to feature this connection.

“We established the peering arrangement with UL this year so that it would benefit their students and provide them with a tool to be more productive and to enhance their educational experience,” says Terry Huval, director of LUS Fiber.
